RECRUITING CARE PROVIDERS
We're excited about having recruited nearly 50 care providers to assist families of children with special needs! Care providers are recruited on an ongoing basis so families have the option of conducting multiple interviews to find just the right care provider for their unique situation.
COMMUNITY EDUCATION
We continue to make upbeat presentations to civic organizations and faith communities about our mission. Our hope is to spread the message that children with special needs are gifts full of hidden treasure. Our annual fundraising celebration in May serves to further educate the community about TLC. In addition, it brings together our supporters and the families we serve for a memorable evening of entertainment, dinner and dancing.
"Meet the Parents" MIXERS
On the fourth Sunday of each month, we provide an opportunity for families and care providers to meet and mingle in a relaxed environment for connection and possible employment. The mixers are designed as a fun family outing, with entertainment and ample helpers for the children. In addition to meeting care providers, families can enjoy friendship and fellowship with one another.
FAMILY VACATIONS AND GETAWAYS
We've been able to send a number of families on adventurous vacations, such as to Mt. Lassen National Park. One family of five, including their 17-year old son with cerebral palsy, was thrilled about their dream-come-true trip to Disneyland! Such getaways provide a time of bonding and light-hearted fun for families that may otherwise feel stress in their day-to-day life. We thank our generous supporters for making this possible.
