STUDENT SCHOLARSHIPS

TLC sponsors the Laura Bruce Memorial Scholarship at San Marin High School (SMHS), launched the year that she would have graduated. This award recognizes one typically- abled, graduating senior for their outstanding service and friendship to disabled students in the Special Day Class (SDC). Patrick McGlaughlin’s 2007- 08 $500 scholarship was presented by Jaryd Kalb, a student with cerebral palsy and limited speech. Audiences were touched and reminded of the privilege of inclusion! Kevin Termonfilis’ 2008-09, also a football star at SMHS, gifted his signed Jersey to his “buddy” Nick from the SDC class. Through such scholarships and events, TLC is able to magnify the good news that differing abilities make the world a richer place!

FUNDING EFFORTS

When needed, The LaChris Connection covers the fees for care.com memberships so that families can have access to this great resource. As fundraising allows, we hope to supplement care provider wages needed for acute needs and the ability to attend TLC adult only meetings. Funding for care providers to assist with family vacations or parent get-aways has always been a part of TLC’s vision to support the health and well being of families.

FAMILY VACATIONS AND GETAWAYS

We've been able to send a number of families on adventurous vacations, such as to Mt. Lassen National Park. One family of five, including their 17-year old son with cerebral palsy, was thrilled about their dream-come-true trip to Disneyland! Such getaways provide a time of bonding and light-hearted fun for families that may otherwise feel stress in their day-to-day life. We thank our generous supporters for making this possible.
