involved in meeting these ongoing needs.

Families of children with disabilities are fortunate to have many resources in comparison to just three decades ago. Great advances have been made in the areas of inclusion and education. Still, the effort and energy that parents expense accessing these resources can be exhausting.

When you couple the time consuming ‘search for services’ with the often, relentless needs of the disabled child, you arrive at the family’s need for respite and normalcy.  Each family member, the parents, the diagnosed child and siblings all need chances to relax into their natural roles and enjoy typical activities.

The founders of The LaChris Connection experienced this first hand with their two, of three, children who had disabilities. This family also enjoyed staying active and the parents took time for themselves and their marriage.  These healthy choices were invaluable, but of course, finding and affording care providers was a huge challenge in itself. Though worth it, it often became yet another ‘search for services’!

The Mom of this family vowed to herself that, one day, she would make available a pool of specialized care providers, making at least one ‘search for services’ a bit easier! The benefits of this would be access to respite and adventure. This vision has begun to develop both locally and nationally!  Enjoy reading about that journey and this dream becoming a reality!
